Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit in Bhopal on Monday, emphasizing the state’s significant potential to be among India’s top five states in terms of GDP. He praised the state’s rapid transformation and its crucial role in India’s development journey.
Highlighting global optimism towards India’s growth, PM Modi noted that the country is poised to remain the world’s fastest-growing economy, citing a recent World Bank report. He said, “This is the first time in India’s history that the world is so optimistic about our economy. A representative from OECD recently said the future of the world is in India. This growing confidence is strengthening the spirit of every state, and we can see this reflected in MP’s Global Investment Summit.”
PM Modi pointed to Madhya Pradesh’s progress over the past two decades and its potential to rank among India’s top five GDP states. He said, “Madhya Pradesh, with its fifth-largest population, top agricultural output, and abundant mineral resources, has all the potential to be in the top five GDP states. The state has seen an era of transformation and is now one of the top states for investment.”
The Prime Minister also highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s leadership in India’s electric vehicle (EV) revolution, with over 200,000 EVs registered by January 2025, marking a 90% growth rate.
“Madhya Pradesh has become an amazing centre for manufacturing,” he added. The state’s infrastructure growth was also praised, with PM Modi noting the state’s strong connectivity between Delhi and Mumbai, facilitating access to ports and northern markets. The road network, spanning over 500,000 kilometers, and the modernized railway system were also discussed as critical components of Madhya Pradesh’s growth.
“Madhya Pradesh’s rail network is fully electrified, and 80 railway stations are being modernized under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme. The transformation of Bhopal’s Rani Kamlapati station is a perfect example of this growth,” PM Modi said.
PM Modi further underscored Madhya Pradesh’s green energy achievements, mentioning its 31,000 MW power generation capacity, with 30% from solar energy. He also highlighted the recent commissioning of the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Power Plant.
The Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2025, which continues until February 25, is hosting entrepreneurs and diplomats from around the world, signaling the state’s growing international investment potential.
